What
Fat Boab Remember:
It's has taken a week, but decided that I should write
something though not with the usual enthusiasm I have for writing
up a rally report.
When
P in the Park comes along, it is usually a must attend rally
for all of F3. This year however, club holidays and other problems
meant that I had to hold up the party tradition all by myself
-
I definitely managed on the Friday night...
As
with most runs over 3 hours from home, I try to take a break coz
the Hoornet has one of the most uncomfortable seat I have encountered!
30 min's from home and numb bum set in... time to invest some beer
vouchers in a custom seat methinks....
Arriving
at the site, first person I meet is big Walter... lid off, sign
in, pitch tent and hit the bar.... this kinda continued well into
the evening with brief stop over's with Alan, Trouble, Muppethied,
Wee John and Kim from Bikers1 to partake on the odd imbibement...
Beer, Vodka, Jack Daniel's, etc... turn into a fairly nice potent
mix!
It
was once we retired to the bar properly that we received the tragic
new about Maverick being lost on route to the rally. Another
bike went down and resulted in a non fatal injury, but two riders down
and one lost to us forever had a sobering effect. I had only met Maverick
once or twice but he came across as a big bouncy biker. A lot of fun
to be with. Much respect must go to all at Talisman for pulling together
to comfort the rest of the Conductors MCC who were on route to the
rally. There was little I could add, so I passed on my respects and
got totally wasted.
Saturday
started at 04:30, with a desperate sprint back to the hall and
toilets. At that time I did not really understand
that this was the shape of things to come for the whole of saturday!
Back to bed! 08:00 second sprint across the field and up the car
park... by this point I decided that staying at the bar / food was
a better plan (mainly coz I am too fat to be running that far). By
lunchtime I felt better and enjoyed a beer with some of the Bikers1
crew and ripping the piss outta Wee John trying to play Heart's Barracuda
on Guitar Hero... John, for the worlds biggest Heart fan - you were
shite!
A quick safety snooze and the loss of Maverick was
back to the forefront of my mind and I struggled to get into a party
mood, sorry if I was being too morose folks, you know how it is...
one more beer and decided I was not enjoying it so no more beer for
me. I chatted away to a few folks and managed to catchup with some
old friends, but by midnight I realised I was being the worst company
in the world and headed back to ma tent.
Whilst this all seems very sensible, I was awake and
raring to get on the road by 05:30! After a very enjoyable chat to
Marty (Talisman) and Alan (S&S) it was time to pack up and head off
home (08:00!).
A great deal of credit must go to Talisman MCC for
overcoming the tragic events of the rally, and making it an enjoyable
time for all those who could enjoy themselves. Hot Rod and Sharon
- greatest respect to you both, and the tribute to Maverick was most
appropriate - well done all, especially Walter.
