Furry Boots Rally 2007

Words and Pictures Steve, Moira and Mitch

The Furry Boots rally started early for me this year as my good lady wife does not do light camping…so it was fill the big red top box (Astra van)and head of to Clatt.

Found a descent pitch - tent erected. Felt there was something missing ???ahh normally I’m drinking beer at this point. Anyway there was about 40 tents already there and it was only 12.30 things were looking good for another great rally.

Went home got the Busa, Moira in the van with my wee son Euan heading for Aberdeen to drop him of at his Grans…job done and we set of for Clatt arrived at the site 8.30 ish. Just got off the bike and Seths missus was on me like a ton of bricks... I had stopped of with the big red top box earlier and asked if they wanted any bulky items taken along ,they gave me all their bottles. Lucky for them I don’t like drams. Anyway Emma’s gripe was it was now 8.30 and she was still sober.

I ALWAYS GET THE BLAME

Got to the marquee it was the same set up as last year, so in Mitches words “it was all good” let the beer drinking start. The first band was Double Jack they played a good set and got the floor full. Started talking to old friends u just meet up with at the rallies. More beers lots of laughs and that’s where it goes all fuzzy for me ,I remember chips and curry sauce but that’s about it I’m afraid.

Got woken up on sat by some nonce bouncing his engine of the rev limiter! Full breakfast was next on the agenda with a stop of to the toilets on route. Still feeling very rough at this point and a safety snooze was on the cards for both me and Moira felt a wee bit better after that.

Although I’ve now been christened Pirate Pants – apparently you have to see the photos. Guys never show your woman how to use a digital camera the evidence speaks for itself!
Back to the marquee for more torture. Emma was very rough on the Sat afternoon and blamed me for it? Apparently I should not have given her the bottles back – especially the Bacardi!! Still cant work that one out yet anyway got a phone call from Mitch saying he was on his way meet him at the signing in tent. With no ticket he had to pay £25 on the gate and the lady asked if he would go into the overflow field as there was so much people and tents..oh how I laughed but in the end he managed to squash his tent in behind our one.

The first band of the evening was Esterel ( guns n roses kind of band) they took some stick as like last year they were not very good. Had a good laugh a the guy sitting next to me cause he bought there cd for a £5 THEN GOT ALL THE BAND TO SIGN IT!

The second band of the night was full metal racket an old hand at gigs they were excellent. lots of dancing and silly games to top the night off. Lights came on in the marquee and it was tent city for us. Frost on all the tents and bikes it looks like it was going to be a cold one tonight. Meet a nice bloke called Kev he only stayed 5 min from Clatt he offered me and Moira his spare room but we said it would be fine cheers anyway!! BUGGER I wish we had taken him up on his offer it was freezing up at 3.30 on with more clothes on with the stove making sure I didn’t burn the tent this time..Moira woke up also and had a chat with Hughie!! Before donning some rather fetching thermal leggings and jogging bottoms.

Sunday morning yet again woken to the sound of bikes, engines and rev limiters.

Time to get organised sort my head out say all my goodbyes and see you at the next rally. Got stuff packed and fired it into mitch's car witch saved me a journey into Aberdeen for my red top box..cheers dude much appreciated.

Thanks to all for another great rally and we will see you next year
